Standing Tall: How Will Manchester’s Newest Skyscraper Look?

Images of skyscraper proposals at the former Granada Studios site have been released. Four buildings towering up to 52 storeys above the city will be decided at this month’s planning committee on 20th October.

The scheme, one phase of the development known as St John’s, has been submitted by Deloite, on behalf of developers Allied London. Properties are understood to have been marketed in Singapore, Hong Kong and China and individual apartments are fetching over £200,000.

Zaha Hadid: The Starchitect’s Manchester

Today the world of Architecture is reeling from Zaha Hadid’s death. Her impression on the built environment of countless cities across the world will remain for decades to come. Zaha’s practice narrowly lost out in the competition to built the new Factory Arts Centre in Manchester, but there was one structure she did design here.

The architect developed a temporary structure for the high-arts Manchester International Festival in 2009 which sat within the Manchester Art Gallery. See the below image and links for more:
